For those of you that post your experiences here, do not think that your time under the thumb of the WTBTS was for not. Reading about the experiances of ex-Jehovah's Witnesses has been interesting and helpful. It has also been intriging, since no two experiences seem to be exactly the same. It is helpful to me, an outsider, in gaining insight and some understanding what it is like on the inside.

I sometimes wonder if I am so weak that the Lord kept me from joining. 24 years ago I attended a Kingdom Hall for a short time. I knew something was not right, but I could not tell you why at that time.

Since a high school friend contacted me two years after 24 years of silence and the reason I was attending the Kingdom Hall, I have been burdened with starting an out reach or joining an existing out reach to Jehovah's Witnesses.

Your words and experiences will be helpful to me. Thank you for your willingness to share, no matter the hurt that you feel.

Do You Think Your Family & Friends Will Ever Get Out Of The Religion??

can you imagine certain ones making it out of the religion, somehow, sometime?

After being contacted 2 years ago from a high school friend, I have prayed daily for her release and that she comes to know the real Jesus (John 14:6). She has been a Witness now for over 24 years,

We communicate via email, since we are on oppisite ends of the country. She never response more than once to any topic and sometimes there are long quite periods, but eventually I will hear from her. So I go through periods of real doubt and than periods of hopes that she is looking for the escape scuttle.

This site has given me real hope that Watchtower prison walls have crackes that can be seen from the inside and holes that one can be sqeeze through no matter how much or quickly those in power try to fill them in.

supposing you wanted to start your own community project, what would you do

just supposing you wanted to start your own community project or to do something, anything for other people, and supposing you had a few hours spare each week and some funding to get a project off the ground, what would you ideally like to do?

would it be that you might like to start an ex witness healing group or similar, or perhaps some theatre production, screen writing etc, or perhaps a recycling project or perhaps helping out elderly individuals in your home area?.

if you could use your imagination, what would you like to do?

Ask your local service groups (Kiwanis, Lions, etc.) what they our doing. If they have a project you want to get behind great. Otherwise, ask if they would be willing to get behind the project you would like to do. Every group is different, so make sure you find one that is active or welling to be active.

some may have wondered why firpo carr, an active jw, has been called a "spiritual advisor" for the jackson family, especially since michael is "disassociated.

Region of peace is a misnomer. I was there with the US Navy for 18 days in 1996. We were not allowed off the base. It was not because of the problems between the locals and the Sailors. But because the locals were blowing each other up. The was a car bombing outside a local pizza restuarant and two guys did not quite get their bomb attached to an ATM machine when exploded. These were attacks between different Muslim groups. Bahrain is suppose to be fairly peaceful, since it is their Carribean.

HOW ABOUT MENTIONING JESUS AT THE MEMORIAL!

well i went last night...........did anyone else notice how the talk focused almost exclusively on the 144,000???

jesus was barely mentioned.

the first couple of minutes talked about when the israelites left egypt and the passover was instituted.

I am an outsider in that I have never been one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I have done alot of reading. It is my impression that after 1935 there was a slow movement, but a continual. In 1935 Jesus was the Messiah and the "Little Flock" were going to be Kings and Priest. But over the years Jesus seems to just be the first of the "Little Flock" and the "Annionted" all 144,000 are the Messiah. I know they never come out and say that, but everything that coming to Christ fellowship does for us is expressed as done by coming in to fellowship with the 144,000. Even the second question of baptism requires acknowledgement of the organization. So it would follow that their Memorial talk be praise of themselves. There is no lack of pride in themselves in their publications.

Excellent question! I've never thought of that angle before and I don't recall ever seeing this question in Questions from Readers? It's a toss-up, because Daniel chapter 2 specifically says that "Michael, the great Prince", but other places in the NT talks about Jesus "coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory".

I do not want to get off the subject of the Memorial and what people observed this year. But I read Daniel 2 and I do not see how it specifically says that Michael is the one that returns. The symboligy of the Rock is never used with Michael, but is used for Jesus.

It says to keep doing it in memory of him, until he returns. Now, since Jesus returned in 1914, why the @#$% are the JWs still celebrating the memorial? Invisibility is out of the question!

This is what Russell said in Vol 6 of the Studies of the Scriptures The New Creation copy write 1904 edition 1917 page 465 on why they still celibrate the memorial.

The end of the paragraph that starts The Apostle adds...

...Faith in the ransom continues to find its illustration in this simple memorial, "till he come,"- not only until our Lord's parousia, or presence, in the harvest or end of this age, but until during his parousia one by one his faithful ones have been gathered to him, beyond the "Veil," there to participate to a still fuller degree, and, as our Lord declared, partake of it "anew in the Kingdom."

Of course there is no scripture reference to support this thought, just Russell's say so. Most active witnesses have probably never seen this.

I would like to know how did Jesus return in 1914 (of course in this edition he returned in 1874 and Armegedon was to be 1914), as Michael or as Jesus? In which form will he rule in the 1, 000 year reign?

We have to remember that the titles Methodist, Catholic, Baptist, Christian Reformed, and etc. are man's attempt to reach out to God.

Chistianity is God reaching out to man.

Heathen,

Do you think that it is control? Most all the laws that they send down appear to have more to do with control, than with Biblical teachings. They can control the "great crowd" (did you know that Rutherford called this class the "prisoner class" in the booklet Angels in 1934) by making them sit there and pass the elements without partaking.
